About This Scholarship

MLT Aikins is committed to supporting Indigenous perspectives and representation across our offices. We consistently work to foster a learning environment that supports Indigenous success in the legal profession and beyond. We are now accepting applications for the MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship, which will award $6,000 to one second-year law student in Canada. The application deadline is February 27, 2026. The recipient of this year’s scholarship will be announced in March 2025. To apply, you must: - be in your second year of law school in Canada - provide a cover letter - provide a resumé and transcripts - provide a reference from your Indigenous community (either a letter or contact information) In your cover letter, we encourage you to describe your achievements, your contributions to the Indigenous community and how you intend to use your legal education to advance Indigenous issues in Canada. If you meet the above requirements, we would love to hear from you. Please use the form below to submit your application. Be sure to include your cover letter, resumé, transcripts and a reference from the Indigenous community.
