🌄 Back to Batoche 2026 — The Heartbeat of the Métis Nation
The Story
Each summer, thousands of Métis people and their families travel to Batoche, Saskatchewan for one of the most important cultural gatherings in North America. Back to Batoche Days is more than an event — it's a homecoming. 📍 Batoche National Historic Site, SK 📅 July 16-19, 2026 At the site where Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont made their stand in 1885, Métis families gather today to celebrate who they are: 🎻 Traditional Métis fiddling and jigging 🍽️ Bannock, Métis stew, and community feasts 🌿 Cultural teachings and ceremonies 🏇 Horse racing and traditional games 🛍️ Métis artisans and vendors This event is free and open to all. It's a powerful reminder that the Métis Nation is alive, vibrant, and thriving. Miigwech to the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan for keeping this tradition alive for all these years. #BackToBatoche #MetisNation #Saskatchewan #Batoche #MetisCulture #IndigenousCulture
